Bornless Middle Pillar

After my "mini-crisis" I decided that it was time to get back to the basics. I have been doing a lot of Enochian work lately, mainly with the Seniors, and I thought it would be good for me to re-nourish myself with a Bornless Middle Pillar. (not that working with the Seniors is unourishing, but very ethereal and difficult to process) I wanted to concentrate specifically on the basics I learned with the regular Middle Pillar when I was a 0=0 since, from time to time, we get so enamoured by advanced magics, we forget about the power of the rubricks.

I began by taking a long time to sit in meditation and clear my mind. Even though I wanted to jump right into it, I made myself sit and wait until my Higher Genius told me to begin. As I sat and focused on my breath I went into a deep state of meditation. Then, without having to place the intention, the Kether sphere began to open up above me. Light began to shine down on me from above and envelope my whole being. A sense of calm peace and wholeness permeated throughout and I knew it was time. I stood up and began the Kabbalistic Cross, I focused with great intensity on my visulization and projecting the energy out into the universe, I continued with my banishings and other rites until it was time for the Middle Pillar.

I like to do my Middle Pillars sitting down, it helps me to focus more on my visualization. I preformed the exercise invoking and vibrating the proper Divine names, and circulating the Light throughout my being. I wanted to meditate on the words of the Invocation, which begins "I am the First and the Last", I read it first, to make sure I remembered the words, then sitting in my hightened state of awareness I let the words flow through my mind unceased by the material. Suddenly, I sensed that I was not in my body or in my self, but that I was in my Self, my True Self, the reflection of the Divine that is within me, this is known in the Western Mysteries as one's Higher Genius.

I saw and felt myself as the beginning of the creation of a universe, a ball of energy, with all the potential of the universe within me, contract, then expand exponetially! I then began to contract again, more slowly this time, until I was my original size...this cycle happened over and over again. It was breathtaking.

It was interesting for me to note that although a new universe was formed in each cycle, the old one was never completly destroyed, but instead used as the basis of the new universe. Thus, every universe was not only built on the ashes of the previous, but of every universe which had come before.

"Light in extension, Light rushing forth in one ray..." is what is said by the Hierophant in the 0=0
initiation. The Light never ends, it creates and uncreates itself, but it is never annihilated.

  1. You will get more depth from the middle pillar if you skip the count and repeat the Divine names as a mantra. Do the mantra with devotion and not like I. Regardie's Om Namaha.

  2. Thanks for sharing that knowledge I will definatly try it the next time. I think its important to mention from time to time that we need to do the Work with devotion. After awhile when the newness has worn off it can become like a chore, very dry, almost anatomical like. We feel we need to go into the Temple and do magic as it is our duty, but we have to remember to have a relationship with that magic. A magical life-style is like being married, you have to spice it up a bit from time to time, and keeping a devotional state of mind really helps to bring the deeper aspects back to the Work...thank you!

  3. I don't really believe it is necessary to do the same ritual structure *every* day as *is*. You can create a dynamic program to shift things around. There are more than sufficient content to keep you busy every day for hours and you will probably still never do it ALL in one single life-time.

For example, let's take the LBRP. You are a 5=6. You have already worked the Elemental grade system and probably done the LBRP thousands of times. If you are starting to see the LBRP as a chore, it is time to expand that horizon. What is stopping you from modifying the LBRP so that every day you are working 4 different angelic configurations? Why not switch one of the angels with Metatron? There are hundreds of angels. Will it be the classical GD LBRP? No, but you already know it and can do it at any time. These minor variations or just shifting a schedule around so each day you do an LIRP of an Element or LIRH of a planet will add spice.

My rule of thumb is if you are feeling that magic is a *duty* or that it is becoming *chore* then your magic is not keeping pace with your spiritual development. Time to take it up a notch.

That flat tire feeling that some people get while working the Golden Dawn system means they need to add fresh air. Some would advice you to just keep driving me with a flat tire and that magically it will re-inflate by Divine providence. Sometimes that happens, but it is as easy to just pump in more air.

  4. I agree that getting bored could be a result of not speeding up your magical work to match your ever changing spiritual level, but I think sometimes it can also be a result of ego-gratification. I have known a lot of initiates who want to get new grade material, and yet they fully havn't worked through what they presently have, this is merely impatience, and is something that needs to be carefully watched in ourselves and those we teach. I know from time to time I suffer from it myself. For example I was working through some info on Olympic Planetary Spirits, then I got side tracked into some Enochian work with the Seniors, then something else. I had to catch myself and go back and finish up what I had left behind so that I wouldn't have a trail of incomplete work because I wanted to move onto something new and exciting.

As far as switching up rituals in the manner you discuss, I agree this can be beneficial, but I also think its important to excercise discretion in what you switch up. For example, I personally would not change how I do my banishings, as I believe they were created to yield specific results, to balance and purify the elements in one's sphere of sensation. But, I would feel comfortable changing up certain rituals that had more open ended goals such as combining godforms together or even differnt elemental forces to yield more specific results, or even using different Divine Names in the MP, because its goal is to "raise energy". Personally the way I like to spice things up is to either work with totally new material, or commune with differnt entities (Thoth, Archangels, my Higher Genius), to get new techniques. I am really enjoying our correspondance, I hope that you continue commenting on my blogs...when will you have a new one?

Soror, I apologize for not clearly explaining myself. I didn't imply that you need to speed your work or jump ahead to new content. I was referring to depth and intensity. Adding one extra rep to the MP, for example.

My idea on rotation of ritual work refers to the content you are focusing on and not necessarily new content.

"I agree this can be beneficial, but I also think its important to excercise discretion in what you switch up."

I agree that all changes needs to be done wisely and with knowledge. This is why I used the LBRP as a reference. I wouldn't make that recommendation to anyone below the 5=6 grade.

I understand your hesitation, but I am reminded also that: Fear is an emotion which encloses and precludes change.

"For example, I personally would not change how I do my banishings, as I believe they were created to yield specific results, to balance and purify the elements in one's sphere of sensation."

I hear ya. Let me bring up two points though:

    1) The LBRP of all the various rituals in the GD has the widest amount of variations already in the corpus.

    2) You wouldn't be changing the way you are doing your banishing. You would be creating patterned rituals for a different purpose using the GD framework.

"I hope that you continue commenting on my blogs...when will you have a new one?

You can count on the first. I am not sure about the second. :)
